The new year brings continued free People Mover rides to Detroit thanks to the corporate sponsor, Priority Waste. The sponsored Zero Fare pilot program’s goal is to boost ridership by at least 50 percent using paid sponsorships to cover the funds that are normally collected from riders. Not only are rides free, but riders will also benefit from expanded hours.
The program officially launched on Jan. 2, 2024.
