Collective Soul brought their energy to The Collesium at Caesars on June 27. The 5,000-seat venue provided an intimate feel to the 90-minute show that opened with Observation of Thoughts and wound through all the fan favorites and early tracks.

Lead singer E. Roland started the night off on the piano wearing a sparkling gold jacket that, together with his dance moves, evoked images of Gene Wilder’s Willy Wonka. The band is phenomenal live and Roland is not only a stellar musician and performer, but his riffs with the audience between songs were lively and humorous, adding to the evening’s entertainment.

Collective Soul wrapped up the night with the popular “Run” off the Varsity Blues soundtrack. It was one of the best endings to a show – after taking their bows, the group exited the stage one at a time as Roland continued to play his guitar in center stage. He then walked off, still playing, and finished the last minute of song from off stage. The lights continued to change with the music and brought the show to a nice visual as well as audio end that felt like an easy transition back into the real world.
