HopCat’s Royal Oak Location Shutters

HopCat’s three-story restaurant and bar in Royal Oak will not reopen after closing for the pandemic back in March. One of Royal Oak’s most popular spots says the closure is due to a landlord dispute, and plans to reopen at a different location in Royal Oak via their Facebook post.

After an estimated $2.5 million in renovations, it’s a sad curtain call (hopefully temporary) for what was one of the most profitable locations in HopCat’s collection of outposts, according to Eater Detroit.

Here’s what to ponder. You have a huge three-story spot, with a half-covered rooftop (one of very few rooftops in Royal Oak). Second story hardly used. How do you make this spot work? Especially now.
